If you’re a resident of Boca Raton or live nearby in Delray or Deerfield Beach, then there is a strong chance you’ve heard of and/or visited Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. If you’re relocating to the Boca area, if you ask someone for something fun and low cost, there is a good possibility they will mention Gumbo Limbo.
Gumbo Limbo is a combination of Sea Turtle Rehabilitation, aquariums, nature center, and outdoor walking trails including butterfly garden. For more than 40 years, the 20 acres of protected land has been a refuge to various plants and animals. Gumbo Limbo is in fact a cooperative project of Florida Atlantic University (FAU), the city of Boca Raton, the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District, and Gumbo Limbo Coastal Stewards.
