Delray Beach, Florida, the hidden gem of Palm Beach County, has been rated Most Fun Small Town by Rand McNally, USA Today and the Travel Channel, and Coastal Living named it in the top 10 Happiest Seaside Towns. One of the most fun and breathtaking locations to visit in South Florida, Delray Beach is also a 3 time winner of the coveted All-America City award 1. The city is an eclectic mix of all ages, and home to almost 70,000 residents, both full and part time.
One of the major attractions to Delray Beach is Atlantic Avenue, which boasts all the entertainment you could need. “The Ave” runs from the public beach itself, and all through West Delray. However, it is the stretch of concrete that starts at the beach, and travels to Swinton Avenue that gets the most attention. Not every city in South Florida allows you to walk right off the sand and into a shop, restaurant, or bar. In Delray you certainly can.
This map shows just the city limits of Delray Beach. As with Boca Raton and Boynton Beach, Delray Beach itself extends from the ocean and goes as far west as developed land goes. After these three cities, you find several towns from east to west. When talking real estate, the east area has a higher price per square foot, as being close to the ocean is desirable. If you don’t mind a short drive to sand and surf, Central and West Delray offer some great built less than 20 year old communities (Tuscany, The Bridges, Seven Bridges).
